It seems to me that true spiritual progress can not be selfish - the Master puts this clearly: when one is evolving all around him are evolving too, from the fruits of his efforts. The doctrine of the Archeus (ether as Yogananda puts it) in occult terms.

The reference to Gandi struck me too. Last night I had the chance to listen to the Dalai Lama's representative, on his job and the difficulties of those in Tibet.

The message? It was simple: with so much armed and violent conflict at present, the world collectively cannot afford the price of failure of 53 years of non-violent protest. Atrocity breeds atrocity. Let us and our governments remember Gandhi's victory and not be swayed by material inducements of international commerce. Otherwise we will all be responsible if the struggle turns violent.

Thank you for your response Peter, most insightful. I am glad you enjoyed the story. The message is very powerful and is something I have had in mind for some time. So to receive this explanation through a book was great!

Take care, Lewis.

Yes, it is true that we do not own even a one single strand hair on our heads, everything we have save our consciousness is on loan from God, and will go back to him in a few short years. And what else is our consciousness but the Divine?
Dedicating all we do, yes, and also offering up all our worries, failures & weaknesses, how much better can the Almighty deal with it than ourselves.
Good story, Lewis : )

I agree Alex. I used to be absolutely closed minded. More to the point, I was unaware, uninterested in some of the phenomena of the universe, and therefore ignorant also.

I shared this story because even Yogananda's own sister would poke fun at him about his faith. Even when he gave her the evidence by giving her an experience, she still found it easier to run away that to accept it.

Things can change over time as you are well aware. But only if you choose. I was once a healthy skeptic and can relate to anyone who disbelieves.

It's strange that you would associate it with fear. I haven't thought to much about AI, but the natural phenomena that will be brought into world consciousness in the next 30-40 years is exciting. The wonderful thing is, that what we do now, will have a huge effect on the times to come!
Thanx for commenting Alex! :)
