Before I start a blog like this I like to make everyone aware of the dictionary definition: Gratitude = “the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful.”

For many people this idea of gratitude will not be a new one. For many others, it may be something they have touched upon, but not something they practice each day of their lives.

Are you grateful to be alive? For the life that is in you? Have you realised how easily we take something for granted until it is taken away. Are you grateful for your friends and family around you? Your children and parents? Believe it or don’t believe it, but some people are never grateful. never!

You can be grateful for your two eyes, or you can take them for granted. Be grateful for your child’s smile, or the grass, trees and birds and bees. Or just except them as a given.

Gratitude is a choice, and only you can decide to make it. So be grateful to have this Sunday for yourself and to be able to do anything you want with it. Be grateful to be healthy and alive. And be grateful to have family and friends around to bring you joy and happiness.

There is always someone worse off than you are. Remember this.

I like most take things for granted. An attitude needs to be developed to care for what we have, like our health and friends.

    • Yes indeed. It’s not easy to remember always and everywhere to be grateful. Normally it occurs when we lose something or someone. But with practice and attention we can form this very powerful habit that is gratitude.

  2. I am grateful for each moment, each person with whom I am connected, each experience, each breath.

    This is a beautiful post.
