Peace and Happiness

I came across a wonderful paragraph in a book I am currently reading which I feel would benefit everyone who might happen to read this. It is as follows:

“The principal focus of Mahayana teachings is on cultivating a mind wishing to benefit other sentient beings. With an increase in our own sense of peace and happiness, we will naturally be better able to contribute to the peace and happiness of others. Transforming the mind and cultivating a positive, altruistic and responsible attitude are beneficial right now. Whatever problems and difficulties we may have, we can thereby face them with courage, calmness and high spirits. Therefore, it is also the very root of happiness for many lives to come.”

Peace and happiness should be very high on everyones priority list. Money and education can’t bring these great inner qualities about. A change of mind is necessary.

We have the power within us to control our mind, and with practice we can reach a very proficient level in the thoughts we allow into our consciousness. We also have a choice in the way we let things effect us and in the attitude we have to any problems and difficulties that may occur.

“With an increase in our own sense of peace and happiness, we will naturally be able to contribute to the peace and happiness of others.” What a thing to strive for! To have more peace and happiness in ones own life to be able to naturally contribute to everyone else’s life who we may happen to touch. There is no greater aim in life.

So pay attention to your thoughts, and any negative recurring thought patterns. Banish them as soon as you become aware of them and affirm that you are happy and at peace. Face your problems with optimism and high spirits knowing that the nature of life is change, and before long things will be very different.

The Subconscious Mind

The subconscious mind is powerful beyond what we could ever imagine. It records every thought and sense impression you have ever experienced in your life. All impulses of thought that reach the conscious mind through any of the five senses is classified and effortlessly recorded. All of these impression are stored and filed and can be recalled at any time with the assistance of hypnosis.

It receives and files thoughts and sense impressions regardless of their nature, whether good or bad. The subconscious mind acts first on the dominating thoughts and desires which intermingle with any strong emotional impulse. This should be expanded upon as it is very important.

If your dominant thoughts are negative; fear, jealousy, ungratefulness and anger, this will manifest itself in how you experience the world and life. If, on the other hand your regular thoughts during the day are positive and optimistic in nature this in turn will show itself in your world. Thoughts of happiness, peace, gratitude, joy and well-being will have a positive impact on your days that you could never have imagined.

The subconscious mind works night and day, constantly giving you what you are asking for. And by asking for I mean thinking about often. You can’t control it completely, but you can impregnate it with what you would like to see more of in your life. Even if you are having a ‘down’ day, or thoughts of worry consume your mind you can affirm to yourself ‘I am happy’, ‘I am grateful for what I have’, or anything that would make you feel good. Try it! You will be amazed at how quickly your state changes through this practice of affirmation.

Once you have accepted as a clear reality the existence and power of the subconscious mind, and understand its possibilities, power and transforming capacity you can begin to bring in to your life anything you can imagine.

The subconscious is never idle. If you are not feeding it positive suggestions, it will continue to draw on your dominant everyday thoughts. So pay attention to any thoughts that recur at certain periods of the day, and change this thought process by affirming the positive. Just try it one time and you will experience the power that can be harnessed through the subconscious mind.

It is very important to harness the power of our subconscious minds and transmute our lives to how we dreamed they would always be.

What do you want?

Reading a very thought-provoking book, which I would recommend to everyone; Napoleon Hill’s ‘Think and Grow Rich.’ I have come to a remarkable paragraph which I must share with you all:

“Examine the first hundred people you meet, ask them what they most want in life, and ninety-eight of them will not be able to tell you! If you press them for an answer, some will say- security, many will say- money, a few will say- happiness, others will say- fame and power, and still others will say- social recognition, ease in living, ability to sing, dance or write, but not one of them will be able to define these terms, or give the slightest indication of a plan by which they hope to attain these vaguely expressed wishes. Riches do not respond to wishes. They respond only to definite plans, backed my definite desires, through constant persistence.”

This paragraph struck a chord with me as I have verified the above statement for myself. We are all quick to complain about our lives, to compare ourselves to others who have achieved and accomplished, not reminding ourselves of the huge efforts that individual would have made to get to where they are.

The first thing we must do is ask ourselves are we one of the two, or one of the ninety-eight? If we are one of the ninety-eight, is it possible to change our inner desire and drive in life to become an individual with clear goals, and even clearer plans for their attainment.

Begin this process right now! Put aside what you are doing for five minutes and ask yourself what you want most in life. Then think about how you could go about getting what you want. Then start planning what you intend to do to accomplish your aim.

The sad thing is most of us will not do it! We will content ourselves with what we have always had, with who we have always been, with the lives we have always lived. Don’t settle for it any longer.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have always imagined!
